April 18, 2016: Fevicol Science Project Challenge, organized by Pidilite Industries Limited, has its grand finale on 21st April. The event strives to hone creativity among children, and make learning fun by intermingling science with craft.
The
contest encourages students to come up with creative ideas on topics
relevant to everyday life, and craft 3D models of their interpretation
of the solution. Hence the event promotes “Learning by Crafting”, where
kids use crafting as a medium to present their thoughts and ideas,
combining it with academic concepts. This year the overarching theme for the event was ‘Young Minds Creating Better Tomorrow’.
Modern
English School, Dombivli and Lilavatibai Podar high School Dombivli
have qualified for the grand finale of Fevicol Science Project Challenge
in the Junior category. The
projects basis which they acquired the ticket to the finale were
‘Renewable sources of energy’ and ‘Pollution Control’ an interesting
concept displayed by the students.
Mr. Rahul Sinha, President- Art & Stationery Business, Pidilite Industries Limited,
said “We are proud to be part of this journey in developing the next
generation of thinkers. The last four editions has seen this property
gain recognition amongst academicians and participants as a valued
platform to demonstrate practicality behind craft. “
The challenge began in mid-Aug, 2015 and witnessed participation from over 1200 schools and 300,000 students from across the country. Six teams each from junior (5th to 7th std) and senior (8th to 10th std) categories have qualified to the grand finale. The finale is being held in Delhi Public School, Nerul, which has made it to finale round in both junior & senior category.
The
panel of judge for the finale includes Mr Ramesh Kumar Modi,
ex-Scientific Officer at Bhabha Atomic research Center, experienced
academicians Mrs Ragini Bhole and Mrs Vrinda Malse, and Harun Robert,
popularly known as Rob – eminent TV personality who has carved a niche
for himself in world of craft.
Apart
from being felicitated with trophies, the winning team teams, along
with one parent of each kid, will receive a grand trip to the Science
Museum in London.
