Young minds from Swiss University participate in the ‘Discover Business India’ initiative

Mumbai, April 17: A delegation of 36 future business leaders, including some faculty members from the HWZ University of Applied Sciences Zurich, Switzerland visited India as part of ‘Discover Business India’ initiative. The university promotes this program in order to help participants understand the broader picture of an emerging sector within a country. This time they decided to track the booming dairy sector in India and made a plant visit to Parag Milk Foods (P) led. As it is the largest private dairy player in the country.
As part of the plant visit, all the participants took a detailed tour of the cheese plant to understand the entire process of cheese making and also look at the state of the art machinery set up there. This was followed by a visit to Bhagyalaxmi Farm for a know-how on the ‘Pride of Cows’ brand, and demonstration of the facilities set up to ensure a best breeding environment for the cattle including the advance technology led milking system. The delegation also spent the day understanding the nuances of the business and overall functioning of the plant, and the Leadership team at Parag Milk Foods (P) Ltd. shared an overview of the dairy sector and the business growth opportunities. The participants also enjoyed a traditional welcome and sumptuous Indian cuisine to enhance their overall experience.
India's strong economic growth in the last few years has sparked the expansion of international trade and business perspectives. HWZ has collaborated with the S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) in Mumbai, one of the premier management education institutes in India, to drive this program. The main focus of this program will be to give the HWZ students the opportunity for an intensive training in an international environment. The program is set such that the participants learn, discover, and get insight knowledge of how business is conducted in India, the most important emerging market globally.

During their week long study tour to India, they had scheduled visits to various other leading corporate houses across major business sectors.

The arrangement provides for Nova IVI Fertility to collaborate with Manipal University including real-world clinical training to students, joint research studies and visiting faculty rights for its senior clinical doctors
Mumbai, April 14, 2015: Nova IVI Fertility (NIF), a subsidiary of Nova Medical Centers, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Manipal University (MU), one of the highly recognized universities in India, for research internships and projects, expert support for curriculum, and preferential access for its Masters students in the Clinical Embryology program. The collaboration between NIF and MU entails the establishment of short-term internships at NIF centers for students and job opportunities for deserving candidates on completion of their studies. Manipal University is one of only six universities in the world and the first in India to have a structured Clinical Embryology program.
 
The Masters of Science in Clinical Embryology will be offered by the Kasturba Medical College; the first batch of up to six students will be offered internship in May this year for a period of 3 to 4 weeks. The agreement is in line with NIF’s commitment to have the best in-house professionals delivering outstanding clinical outcomes.

Lavasa & Switzerland, April 15th, 2015: The 6th edition of the recently organized Young Hotelier's Summit in Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland brought together 62 students from 31 schools across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Students attended three days of workshop, keynote speakers and focus groups, interacting with influential players in the hospitality industry and working with delegates from other colleges.

Titled as Team 10/10 comprising Nirmitee Mehta (Ecole Hoteliere Lavasa), Anna Church (Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne), Donal Ennis (Shannon College of Hotel Management), Aaron Laurie (University of Guelph) and Maruan Elana (MODUL University Vienna GmbH) were awarded with the 'Dorchester Ultimate Experience' comprising a 7 day all expenses paid trip for each team member plus a companion to their hotels in Milan, Paris and London at the annual Young Hotelier's Summit.

The winning group was chosen based on the innovation behind their solution, their perspective of looking inwards to outwards, the way they involved everyone in the solution and its sustainability as they could reposition the people they already have.
The Young Hoteliers Summit is an annual event held  from 16th to 18th March by the students of Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne. It is the first hospitality summit that brings together students from hotel schools and industry companies from around the world and is centered on the principles of collaboration towards the industry's main players, dialogue and exchange of ideas.

Press Release - CII Tech Connect 2015 at VES Institutions of Technology

Mumbai, April 10: Senior industry leaders today asked the engineering students to `think smarter’ both as an engineer and citizen, and create technologies required to make the cities smarter and living easier for the people.
Taking part at an industry-institution initiative at Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology (VESIT) at Chembur, Mastek founder-chairman and IT leader Ashank Desai called upon the future engineers to work on new technologies that would make cities smarter and cleaner, whichever branch of engineering they work.
“Smart cities are well defined as they are resourceful, efficient and livable with better environment and superior transport. You look at the smart city concept not only as an engineer, but also as a citizen and create technologies to make the cities livable for the individuals. You should also help those digitally illiterate people to be smarter by training them,” said the former NASSCOM chairman.
Backing the `skill India’ campaign by the government, the industry leaders also felt that skill development initiatives by the industry in the colleges threw up a win-win situation for both the sides.
“Companies need to train the new engineers for the first 3-6 months once they are appointed. If you give proper exposure to the students on the practical side, the companies can save on this,” said Sunil Khanna, who is the president and managing director of Emerson Network Power India.
“Technology is changing fast and the institutions cannot do much. But industry can bridge this gap through such initiatives. This would also help the industry understand the aspirations of the students,” said Mr Khanna.
Mr Desai endorsed the initiative saying that it would make the students understand about the requirements by the industry. The leaders also pointed out that IITs should hand-hold other institutes like VESIT to enhance the capabilities of the faculty and uplift the smaller institutions.
Such skill development initiatives would prepare the students for the future tasks. Besides, this would also boost the morale of the future engineers who would be crucial in contributing to `Make in India,’ said VESIT principal Dr. Jayalakshmi Nair.
Mr. Anthony Thomas, CIO, Vodafone, was the guest of honour at the initiative called Tech Connect, jointly held by the CII and Emerson with the support of VESIT. Makrand Kulkarni (Emerson Climate Technologies), Nitin Nair (Chief Manager, Automotive Vertical, Siemens Ltd. India), Sanjay Rozario (Founder, Marcom Plan –B Pvt. Ltd) and Rajesh Marathe, Founder, Vaishvik Lifstyle also shared inputs on the latest industry practices.
As the `Make in India’ campaign is making headlines every day, students also made presentations on different subjects like `what changes should the government make’ in the current campaign. The presentations were also made on crucial issues like crude oil pricing, data on cloud, social networking and digital marketing.

IIHMR Delhi invites applications for Post Graduate Diploma in Health Management (PGDHM)
Number of seats:  120
 
Course duration: Two Years (Full-time Postgraduate Programme)
 
Two year full time flagship educational program taught onsite by, faculties with unmatched expertise of rural and development industry. The programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
 
Eligibility:
-          Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 50% marks from recognized university  in any discipline bachelors in Science, Commerce, Nursing, Nutrition and Physical Education Experts, Humanities, Law, Health Management, General Management, Social Sciences, Health IT and Health Sciences
-          Valid CAT/MAT/CMAT/ATMA/XAT score
-          Candidates with an experience of two years or more are encouraged to apply and are exempted from the above mentioned scores.
-          Candidates awaiting final year results/ candidates appearing final year examination of Bachelor’s degree. These candidates will be required to produce evidence of graduation within two months of commencement of the course.

Selection Procedure:
The eligible candidates will be invited for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The final selection of the candidate will be based on his/her score in mentioned Aptitude tests, percentage in the qualifying graduation exam group discussion and Personal interview.
